Style Icon: Katharine Hepburn

For years I've admired Jackie Kennedy for her style, grace and poise.  When I go shopping I focus on color and classic separates in an attempt to emulate her traditional style.

But lately, I've been focusing on Katharine Hepburn.  You have to be blind to not realize that palazzo pants are back in a big way and with that comes the inevitable comparisons to Hepburn (of the Katharine variety) style.

As a fellow redhead, she's been on my radar for far longer.  I've always respected her lady-like style and only recently feel woman enough to pull it off. Everything she wears in A Philadelphia Story has a wonderful modern edge that you see echoed from DVF to Donna Karan.  It's a focus on fit and lady-like elegance.  You can't help but look amazing!

After the jump see some tips on how to get this look.

How chic is this look?  I love the wide leg trousers with a wide waistband (more flattering) and the beautiful pleating.  It's a classic pant, updated for modern wear.  I loved it paired with a similar colored tie neck blouse.  The monochromatic look is dressy but each piece can be deconstructed into separates.  This Ann Taylor Blouse can be worn buttoned up or loose making the ultimate versatile top that you can wear Fall through Spring.

I love a good spectator pump and these are modern with a hint of classic elegance.   The black and camel duo-tone make them incredibly versatile.

The final touches are always the best part.  I would keep jewelery minimal, perhaps a small gold bracelet and I ADORE these mint green art deco stud earrings.  A hint of red lipstick and a classic but fun clutch and you're ready to hit the town.

Now, only to figure out what to do with my Katharine Hepburn hair envy! Any tips on the perfect, wearable finger wave?
