LBD

Sigh, it's winter.  Winter does a number of unfortunate things to me, the most prominent of which is that it knocks the color right out of my wardrobe.  I usually trend toward warm colors; pinks and reds, sunny yellows and oranges.  But in the winter, I wear black.

Lots of it.

Thank goodness for the little black dress!

Some may call it the ultimate uniform, some consider it a way of life (see: Black is the New Black) however, no matter your opinion on the little black dress, it is, and always will be a staple. A classic! Something every woman needs in her wardrobe.

When all else fails, you can't go wrong with a black dress and a strand of pearls.  You immediately look put together with minimal effort.  The key is to find dresses that fit and flatter your shape and most importantly, find a dress that makes you feel like million bucks.

Where does this iconic look come from?  Well, lucky for you - the crew over at Real Simple put together A Short History of the Little Black Dress.  Click through for the spiffy little slideshow on how this look came to be.  Also, keep an eye out for Christian Dior - the New Look changed everything...
